Early in 1995, With the long standing desire to work for myself at home, and the popularity of this photo, the idea for a catalog was born. I was a great catalog shopper, pretty good with a theme, and just crazy enough to actually make it happen. Most importantly though, I had a passion, an unending enthusiasm for breastfeeding advocacy. Motherhood had so profoundly touched my life that it affected my art. I just had to spread the word. As a subscriber to a great new email list called parent-l, I had met many like-minded mamas who wanted to help make Attachments a success. On that email list I found my fabulous graphic designer, my logo designer, a tireless seamstress to embark on a breastfeeding doll journey with me, and many other mama artists and budding business owners who have supported me along the way. With the help of friends and family, a catalog was born, just twelve little pages at its birth. I was so proud that I cried big sloppy tears when I held the first issue in my hands. Just like our children, the catalog has thrived with nurturing and a little "spilt milk" along the way. It's healthy and happy and has become the independent youngster I always knew it would be after a few years of gentle parenting and time on my lap. From the great Pacific Northwest my family and I welcome you to Attachments, we hope you find some great ideas, have fun shopping our aisles, and most importantly, come away with knowledge that you are not alone in your parenting journey.
