Amy Rose Goldman
I began making beaded jewelry in my early teens and used to sell my work at
art fairs and farmers markets during my high school and college years. I
took my first jewelry/metalsmithing class in New York City at the age of 16
and fell in love with working with metal. I moved to California after
graduating college to attend classes at Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in
San Francisco. I took a lost wax casting class and discovered a passion for
working with wax. It was so exciting to me that I could create something 3D
in wax and turn it into metal. I have used this technique in a lot of my
work.
After the birth of my daughter, I became exposed to Goddess ritual and began
"circling" with my close women friends during full moons and other special
times. I wanted to create a meaningful piece to symbolize my connection to
the feminine divine and to my circle of supportive sisters, so I carved and
cast a "moon goddess" pendant for myself. My friends loved it and
encouraged me to make more. I began making them, sharing them, and
eventually selling them. From my experiences with women's spirituality and
my love of nature, I created a collection of jewelry designed to empower and
celebrate women and motherhood, and rejoice in the beauty and sensuality of
nature.
My jewelry studio is in my home and I sell my work through catalogs and
galleries, as well as through my online site Amy Rose Designs. I also love working with young children and am a certified Montessori
preschool teacher. I teach at a wonderful school in San Anselmo, California
where I have the pleasure of introducing all sorts of fun art activities to
the children. I am the mother of the amazing and beautiful eight year old
I thank you for your interest in my work.
