It's unusual in that I would consider it a children's book as well as an adult's book. My girls enjoyed its multi-cultural detail and I loved it for its message describing the different paths that girls can take through life. I think this would be a great baby shower gift for a mother, but I also know your child would enjoy it too. She is Born is a cross-cultural celebration of the birth of a girl, with gorgeous illustrations and a wealth of information from around the world. HB
